This weeks notes…

The seniors have booked their place in the league
semi-finals against Dromore after snatching a hard fought two point victory
over Cookstown on Sunday afternoon. It was Cookstown who got off to the best
start with three points on the board before Gavin Wylie got the Rossa’s started
on 10 minutes. John Cummings added another two minutes later but a lapse in
Ardboe’s defence let Cookstown for 2 goals and a 7 point lead half way through
the half. Christy Cassidy hit a point four minutes later and Frank McGuigan got
his first striking over a free. Cookstown got their final point off the half
but it was Ardboe who finished the strongest with Tommy McGuigan, Ciaran
Campbell and F. McGuigan all hitting points leaving Cookstown with a 1 point
advantage at the break. Half Time- Ardboe 0-9 Cookstown 2-4. In the second half Ardboe
might have been on top but failed to convert some of their chances. Gavin Wylie
hit over another free to draw things up and moments later put Ardboe 1 up with
another free kick. Half Way through the half John Cummings got his 2nd
score as it seemed victory was going the Rossa’s way but again defensive
problems let Cookstown back in for their first score of the half with 16
minutes gone.  A few chances did go way
ward but a Gavin Wylie free kick despite a late Cookstown point secured the win
in a disappointing performance that will need much improvement for the league
challenge of Dromore. Please check local press for details on this fixture.

Do you have a few spare hours on Friday evenings?  If so why not come to the Parish centre to
give a hand with the bingo or the club lotto. There are very few people helping
out at the minute and we encourage any one to come along and help, even if it’s
just selling books. Any help would be greatly appreciated and the bingo is a
parish event and the last of a few that survive today.

There will be a youth presentation night on Saturday 25th
November .This is for under 14’s and below. The clubs dinner dance will take
place on Friday November 24th in the Greenvale for Under 16 and up.
Tickets are available from Mary and Geraldine McGuigan priced at £15 for adults
and £7 for Under 16’s.

The club passes on its condolences to the O’Brien family on
their recent bereavement.
