The under 16’s season came to an end on Saturday when they were beaten at the league semi-final stage as Cappagh held the juveniles to a single score in the second half and eventually went on to win by 3 points. Greencastle was the windy venue and the young Rossa’s got off to a great start with Kyle Coney pointing from a free and Sean Hagan shortly bagging the game’s first goal to put them into a 4 -2 lead. Hagan capitalised on this getting hit first point that was followed by two more from Gavin Teague and Kyle Coney.  But Cappagh shortly got a goal of their own and were right back in it but it was Ardboe that finished the strongest with two more points from Teague and Coney and had a four point advantage at the break. The second half did not go to plan for Ardboe, simple mistakes let them down and Gavin Teague was the only scorer for Ardboe in the second 30 minutes. Cappagh picked off their scores and were let in for an easy goal. On the day one score in the second half was not going to win the game and the opposition took full advantage and the full time score was Ardboe 1-8 Cappagh 1-11. Of course the player and management must be thanked for their time and effort through the season as a lot of time was given up and although no silver ware was captured the players can still take away a lot of experience and also the fact that they did also finish at the top of their table.
