Michael Coney Park
The current premises and playing grounds are situated on the Kilmascally Road. The playing field was opened in 1971 after years of hard work and for the first time Ardboe O’Donovan Rossa’s realised a long cherished dream of having a permanent home, which is ranked along with the top grounds in the county.
Much hard work was put in and all was done voluntary by great Gaels and members of the club. The building of the pavilion that was completed in 1983 further enhanced the park and its facilities. It consists of four changing rooms, a committee room, a kitchen and a large function hall.
Renovations and development are continuous around the premises and the perimeter fence and goal nets were replaced in 1997 and a new stand and terracing constructed in 1998 with the help again of volunteers within the club. As the new millennium dawned the next stage of development was completed with major renovations of the pavilion and resurfacing of the car park.
The next stage of development is now taking place with work now finished on our new training pitch adjacent to the main playing pitch and should be open shortly after a few delays. Both pitches are now full Prunty pitches and among the best surfaces in the county.
A new development also took place in the car park of Michael Coney park with Cookstown District Council constructing a new Play Park. The new Park that is now completed is open all year round for the use of anyone in the Parish.
