U14s suffer defeat in League opener

Ard 1-10
An Domhnach Mhór 5-08

The U14s started their League campaign on Saturday morning at Pairc Micheal O Cuana, where they suffered a 1-10 to 5-08 defeat at the hands of Donaghmore.

Played in blustery conditions, both sides produced an entertaining game of football.  Playing with wind advantage in the first half, Donaghmore started brightly with three opening points.  Ardboe fought back well with points from David Mulgrew and Caolan Mallaghan to narrow the gap, but two goals just before half time left the score at 0-3 to 2-06.

Ardboe started the second half brightly with a Caolan Mallaghan point, but Donaghmore again found the net again to open the gap further.  An Oliver Mallaghan goal and points from Michael Lynn signed a comeback from the young Rossas, but Donaghmore closed the game out to run out eventual winners.

Ardboe: Conor Quinn; Ryan Sheeky, Gerard McVey, Patrick Sheeky; Eddie Sheeky, Kevin Coney, Aidan O'Neill; Oliver Mallaghan, Oisin Devlin; Caolan Mallaghan, Michael Lynn, David Mulgrew; Daniel Brady, Barry Devlin, Michael O'Neill.  Subs used: Nathan Bell, Matthew Laverty, Gary Hagan
